21st-Century Stewardship: Infusing Environmental Stewardship with Global Citizenship Education

(11am CT, 10am MT, 9am PT)

In today’s interconnected and globalized society, what does local environmental stewardship look like in the 21st century? How might learners engage across scales and disciplines to meet the pressing socio-ecological issues of our day? Join us to explore these essential questions through an exploration of “an updated stewardship model that is infused with global citizenship’s multi-scalar perspectives, global compacts, and layered identities to achieve its maximum impact in our interconnected world” (Goodale et al., 2024). These questions and concepts will be investigated by discussing a published case study that qualitatively investigated student learning outcomes related to instructional materials about an Indigenous conservation project in the Peruvian Amazon.
