Educate Yourself and Be Inspired! This is your opportunity to increase your understanding of UNESCO’s role in global conservation, especially within the U.S. National Park system. Hear from experts like Vernon “Tom” Gilbert, a retired National Park Service employee, and Chris Groves, co-author of an article on the value of UNESCO programs, who will provide a firsthand account of the history and ongoing cooperation. They will emphasize the value of international cooperation and how UNESCO is a crucial platform for the U.S. to share its expertise and participate in cutting-edge conservation. Learn how UNESCO programs like World Heritage Sites and Biosphere Reserves benefit conservation and research right here in the United States.
Take Action to Support Our Heritage! The U.S. retaining its membership in UNESCO is critical to support conservation efforts both domestically and internationally. The UNA-USA is dedicated to educating, inspiring, and mobilizing Americans to support the vital work of the United Nations and its specialized agencies like UNESCO. You will have the opportunity to let your Members of Congress know that you believe in the continued US support for the UN, including UNESCO’s World Heritage sites program.
We especially invite those unfamiliar with UNA-USA—including National Park Service employees, members of the National Park Ranger Association, George Wright Society, US Biosphere Network, and other environmental organizations—to join this discussion and learn how you can become a part of a larger movement for sustainability and environmental action. Join us to advocate for continued US engagement and protect our shared national heritage!
