Presenter: Gerald Fisher is a distinguished legal scholar and practitioner with decades of experience in municipal and land use law. Before joining Cooley Law School, he was senior partner and manager of the Municipal Practice Group at Secrest Wardle, serving as general and special counsel for numerous Michigan municipalities as well as property owners. He has assisted in 21 cases before the Michigan Supreme Court, addressing issues such as zoning, wetlands, eminent domain, constitutional amendments, and municipal authority. A past chair of the State Bar’s Public Corporation Law Section, he also chaired the Oakland County Parks Commission from 2010 to 2020, served on nonprofit boards, and has been recognized with honors including the State Bar’s Roberts P. Hudson Award and Best Lawyers in America. At Cooley, he teaches courses in property, zoning, constitutional, and local government law.
