Ecological Steward Skills Training – Buckthorn Edition

Learn the fundamentals of identifying and managing woody invasive shrubs through this hands-on ecological stewardship training. Participants will gain practical field experience in techniques using a different study plant for each event. This course combines pre-workshop educational materials with a field-based training session with questions and conversation encouraged. Pre-workshop materials cover ecological context, invasive species biology, and control techniques. Field session focuses on species identification, hands-on practice with both herbicide and non-herbicide control methods, and tool safety. Participants will have the opportunity to apply their new skills in real restoration work at a local natural areas. Pre-registration required.
